The June 2005 meeting of Washington DC Linux user group took place on Wednesday, June 15, 7pm.
Our host, Eric Dantan Rzewnicki reported on the Streaming Linux Audio Conference, held in Karlsruhe in April 2005 This talk covered the use of the ICECAST streaming server, ICES-JACK audio source client, OGG streaming media container format, THEORA video codec and VORBIS audio codec in the production of the live audio and video streams of LAC2005 presentations and concerts. ICECAST, ICES, OGG, THEORA and VORBIS are all Free Software projects developed under the umbrella of the Xiph.Org Foundation (at Xiph.org). Eric discussed his plans to tape and stream future DCLUG meetings using these technologies.

Keith Casey will talk about dotProject (dotProject.net), a Web-based php Project Management and collaboration framework that allows a group of users to create, view, and track numerous aspects of a project over its lifecycle (tasks (Gantt charts, assignments, deadlines, milestones), collaborators/companies/contractors, a simple threaded forum system, document management, group calendar with tasking, etc.)/

The April 2006 meeting of Washington DC Linux user group took place on Wednesday, April 19, 7pm.
Several meeting ago, you were introduced to some of the text-based utilities which could be used to work with SELinux policy. This month, Justin Nemmers of Red Hat will talk about some GUI-based tools which can be used to administer SELinux policy. He'll also talk about some of the SELinux futures which are actively being developed by Red Hat and the community.
The May 2006 meeting of Washington DC Linux user group will take place on Wednesday, May 17, 7pm [EDT].
This month David A. Wheeler will talk about FLOSS and computer security. David is an author and consultant; his specialty is securing high-risk computer systems. He wrote numerous articles and books on the subject. This presentation will discuss free-libre/open source software and security, including statistics on security & reliability, why open design is important, what is necessary for FLOSS programs to be secure, and other related topics. There will also be a Q & A session where you can ask Mr. Wheeler about a host of related topics.
